Amidst the modern landscape of blockbuster franchises dominating the big screen , a film like The Peanut Butter Falcon can easily slip between the cracks. But this is a film that deserves to be seen by a broad audience. On paper it is a pretty unlikely recipe for a hit movie, but this is a little gem, that stars Shia LaBeouf, Dakota Johnson and newcomer Zack Gottsagen as Zac – “a half naked boy with Down Syndrome who has no money, no family and no idea how to get along in this world…..” until he crosses paths with Tyler, a small town outlaw on the run, and the pair embark on a pilgrimage to the Salt Water Redneck Wrestling School in North Carolina.
If you like the sound of drinking moonshine under moonlight, catching fish with your bare hands and getting baptised by a blind gun-toting preacher while floating on a handmade raft on the largest lagoon on the North American East Coast in a tale reminiscent of Mark Twain’s Huckleberry Finn, then The Peanut Butter Falcon may be just the ticket for you.
If you love the movie Little Miss Sunshine, and dig the idea of chasing dreams and freedom, then get around the pure joy that is The Peanut Butter Falcon.
4 Stars – “Do Not Miss This Movie”
Sounds like a good idea to see it.
