The Chaperone – Film Review

From 22 films to the year 1922, we are in Wichita Kansas for a story based on real life, the tale of silent film star Louise Brooks played by Haley Lu Richardson, a 15 year old dance prodigy who has been offered a place at a prestigious New York dance school run by Ruth st Dennis played by Miranda Otto. Louise needs a Chaperone so local lady Norma steps up, keen for the opportunity to dig into her own past in the Big Apple.

Despite a somewhat clunky feel it is both charming and riveting and I was stoked to watch it with 11 year old ruby sitting beside me.

As Downton abbey fans have to wait until September for that film, this is a great chance to see Elizabeth McGovern shine on the big screen. Celebrate Mother’s Day early this year.
