The Mule – Film Review

Joining the characters in Green Book behind the wheel this week is Hollywood veteran Clint Eastwood.

In a career spanning over 60 years, has directed close to 40 feature films and starred in even more, here he directs and stars as Earl Jones, an elderly man with a passion for growing lilies

Yes lilies.

Having neglected his family in favour of his work, Earl is left out on a limb when his flower business closes thanks to the rise of online competition. He accepts an offer to make some deliveries with no questions asked, and soon finds himself as a highly sought after drug mule being pursued by Bradley Cooper’s DEA agent Colin Bates.

The film could well be a parable for Eastwood himself, who throughout his long career has seen a string of broken marriages, and of course his livelihood of movie making is also under pressure from online forces like streaming services and piracy…
