Christopher Robin – Film Review

So Ewan McGregor has already had a key role in a Disney remake, playing the candle Lumiere in Beauty and the Beast. This is a more substantial role as he plays a fictionalised version of an adult Christopher Robin.

Living in post World War 2 London with his wife Evelyn played by Hayley Atwell and daughter Madeleine, Christopher works for a luggage manufacturer and has long forgotten not only about his friends in the 100 Acre Wood, but about childhood altogether.

When Winnie the Pooh materialises in front of him one day, Christopher is forced to reassess his priorities…

This is the 11th live action reimagining of a Disney animated title, with Dumbo (Tim Burton), Aladdin (Guy Ritchie) and The Lion King (Jon Favreau) remakes releasing in 2019. It took me some time to get used to seeing Pooh Bear as a teddy bear, and he is very realistic and very Pooh with his mannerisms and I now love him.

Directed by Marc Foster of Finding Neverland and Quantum of Solace.

A Classic Family Film

3 & ½ Stars.
