David Fincher’s Gone Girl, (my review here) starring Ben Affleck and Rosamund Pike has topped the Aussie Box Office for two weeks straight, taking over $4 million a week in consecutive weeks. It’s ruled the box office since it’s release on October 2nd and has blitzed competition from Hollywood Heavyweights Robert Duvall and Robert Downey Jr in The Judge which just scraped into the top five on release last Thursday. (Review here) In a relatively quiet week for Australian cinemas Kevin Smith’s horror film Tusk was the only other notable release.
This coming week sees a clutch of films including Nicole Kidman and Colin Firth in Before I Go To Sleep, Ewan McGregor and Brenton Thwaites in Son of a Gun, and new films from Melissa McCarthy and Liam Neeson.
More on Tammy and Walk Among The Tombstones later in the week.
Next week is a really big week with my film of the year (so far) Whiplash, and Brad Pitt’s WW2 epic Fury unleashed on Thursday October 23rd.
The same day sees the release to Australian theatres of a comedy all star cast in This Is Where I Leave You.
